Professional item description: A vibrant example of Ukrainian genre porcelain from the Soviet era—a liqueur decanter titled "Cossack with a Pipe and Saber," produced by the Korosten Porcelain Factory. The model was created by the renowned porcelain artist Valentyna Trehubova.
The decanter is designed in the form of a stocky, broad-shouldered Zaporozhian Cossack dressed in traditional festive attire. The sculptural form is highly detailed: the Cossack holds a long, curved pipe between his teeth; a saber is depicted in relief at his waist; and the sides feature ergonomic, decorative handles accented with gilding. The figure’s removable head—complete with an authentic *oseledets* (traditional Cossack forelock) and a bushy mustache—serves as a snug-fitting stopper.
The piece is adorned with rich, hand-painted details, where a fiery-red *zhupan* (traditional coat) contrasts beautifully with large cobalt-blue floral motifs and delicate gilded accents. The decanter is fully functional and intended for serving spirits or liqueurs. The presence of the original blue Korosten stamp on the bottom confirms the authenticity of the piece. This is a well-known, cataloged model that holds consistently high collectible value.
