Vintage Porcelain Vase with Polychrome Painting and Gilding | Gzhel (Turygino), USSR, 1970s–1980s
Description:
An elegant miniature vase with a classic teardrop shape and a flared neck, crafted at the renowned Gzhel Porcelain Factory (in the village of Turygino) during the late Soviet era.
This piece is of particular interest to collectors, as it features the rare "polychrome Gzhel" style. Departing from the traditional monochrome cobalt blue, the hand-painted design blossoms in shades of pastel blue, soft ochre-cream, and turquoise-green. The floral composition is masterfully accented with delicate hand-applied liquid gold (gold outlining) along the contours of the leaves and around the rim.
The base bears the factory’s original blue underglaze mark, a grade designation (2nd grade), and the authentic Soviet-era price (3.50 rubles). This delicate, compact vase would make a wonderful addition to a collection of Soviet porcelain, a perfect vessel for a small bouquet, or an exquisite accent piece for a vanity table or an open display shelf.
