Porcelain figurine "Taras Bulba" (Cossack with a pipe) — Polonne ZHC Product description
A colorful vintage figurine depicting the legendary Cossack colonel Taras Bulba, a character in the story of the same name by Nikolai Gogol. The sculpture impresses with its monumentality, expressive detailing and unsurpassed Ukrainian flavor.
The Cossack appears in traditional clothing: a white embroidered shirt with geometric ornamentation, wide gilded harem pants, belted with a blue sash, and bright red boots. A luxurious blue caftan with gold painting is thrown over his shoulders.
The characteristic image of the Cossack-character is completed by a long black mustache, a shaved skull with a traditional herring, and a pipe in his hand, which he thoughtfully holds near his chest.
This figurine is not just a decorative object, but a true work of applied art that will become the pride of a collector of Soviet porcelain or a heartfelt gift with a deep historical connotation.

Characteristics
•Name: "Taras Bulba" (Cossack with a pipe).
•Manufacturer: Polonsky Plant of Artistic Ceramics (Polonny ZHC), Ukrainian SSR / Ukraine.
•Period of creation: 1970s - 1980s.
•Material: Hard porcelain, overglaze artistic painting, rich gilding (chandelier).
•Height: ~ 22 cm (small version). (We recommend measuring your copy, since there was also a large rare version with a height of about 48–50 cm).
•Country of manufacture: Ukraine.

Condition and collection value
A Soviet-made product with high detail of the form. The presence of gold plating on the harem pants and caftan makes this variant of the painting especially elegant, bright and in demand among connoisseurs of Ukrainian porcelain classics.
•Manufacturer and period: This is a blue overglaze mark in the form of a stylized swan (or a curl/spiral). This mark was used by the Polonsky Art Ceramics Factory (Polonny ZHC) from 1973 to the early 2000s.
•Grain: The number 2 to the left of the mark indicates that this is a 2nd grade product (which was a completely common practice for mass Soviet porcelain and has almost no effect on modern collection value if the painting is neat).
