Each of these groups has its own subgroups. When composing bouquets, there is always a demand for such peonies, species that have an attractive and lush bud structure:

  • Chinese-European;
  • Japanese;
  • hybrid;
  • terry;
  • semi-double;

Each type of peonies differs in bud size, shade, stem length and other features. However, no matter what peonies you put in a bouquet, they always turn out to be voluminous, lush, airy and beautiful flower arrangements.

Tree varieties of peonies

Tree-like varieties are semi-handicraft plants, somewhat reminiscent of dwarf trees in their structure. In height, such peonies can grow up to 2 m. They have thick and straight stems of light brown color. Tree peonies are distinguished by a wide bud. In diameter, they can be up to 20 cm. In the first year of flowering, you can notice that the buds do not have their characteristic appearance. However, after 2-3 years, after they grow, you can see that the buds have acquired a full size and shape. They do not wither in autumn and every year they grow more and more. The leaves of such peonies have a pinnate shape.

Tree peonies can be divided into several groups:

  • Chinese-European;
  • Japanese;
  • plants that were obtained from Delaway peonies and yellow peonies.

One of the popular varieties of peonies from the tree group should be highlighted:

  • sisters Qiao;
  • Sapphire;
  • Coral altar.

Tree peonies are more suitable for planting them in the garden or in landscaped areas. These are noticeable bushes, which should be allocated a separate place. With their help, you can create magnificent accents on the site, especially during the period when they begin to bloom.

To plant these plants, you need to choose a place where there are no drafts. They love moderate exposure to sunlight. Tree peonies are very demanding on the composition of the soil. It should have a pH of 6 or 7. They should be planted on a plain or upland, as their roots do not like stagnant water.

Herbaceous

This type of peonies has thickened roots. Herbaceous peonies are powerful perennials that differ from others in that they hide their buds underground. When the growing season ends, the upper flowers dry up, and their rhizome begins to sprout new plants with the onset of spring.

Herbaceous peonies were bred from the first two natural species:

  • lactiflora;
  • drug.

From these two species received such types of flowers as:

  • non-double - have a large number of stamens;
  • terry - have wide petals and a dense center;
  • semi-double - the petals in these plants are placed in several rows, thickening closer to the center;
  • Japanese - in these plants, the petals can be arranged in one or two rows and have numerous stamens;
  • anemone - have a single-row perianth with stamens that occupy the entire space of the center.

Lush flowering in such peonies occurs for 3-4 weeks. This is a very impressive period, which not all plants can boast of. These peonies can be grown in a greenhouse, and therefore florists pay attention to them and use them to form attractive and voluminous flower arrangements.

Ito hybrids

A distinctive feature of Ito peonies is their yellow hue. These varieties are hybrids that have been successfully obtained as a result of selection. Due to many attempts, a rich yellow tint was obtained, which appears on the petals and stamens. The breeding of these pions was carried out by the Japanese professor Toichi Ito, in whose honor this group of pions was identified.

Among the features of these peonies, it should be noted:

  • bloom on annual stems;
  • reproduces by division;
  • have stable shoots that grow without supports and are not adjacent to the ground.

Ito-peonies attract attention due to the graceful and elongated shape of the bud, from which a delicate and elegant aroma emanates. Being in the sun for a long time, they can change the intensity of their color. They are distinguished by long flowering, which goes until August. First, the top blooms, and after a while the side leaves. They can bloom twice in one season. Even after the peonies have faded, the bush looks very attractive and decorates the garden. The height of the shoots reaches up to 1 m. Itoh peonies are highly resistant to diseases and pests.
